Challah deliveries and a quick donning of Tefillin while on call. A family outing to the library for a Chanukah program. Hot, fresh, kosher breakfast brought to you while sitting in your child's hospital room. Evenings of learning Torah with your fellow Jewish ladies (and home made refreshments, of course!)
Whatever Chabad may mean to you, we are here to be a helping hand in times of need.
The year 2020 may have looked different for us but that doesn't mean we stopped. Here is some of what we accomplished:
-OEE Jewish Medical Ethics Course in UMASS Medical School, taught virtually.
-Organization of Kosher food being offered in the UMASS Cafeteria!
-Over 50 free "Seder To Go" kits given out, ensuring that every Jew was able to experience the Pesach Seder in the safety of their home.
-Virtual, weekly Lunch and Learn Torah classes.
-Over 50 "DIY Cheesecake Boxes" given out with a pamphlet on how to celebrate the holiday of Shavuot.
-Many more pairs of Tefillin and Mezuzahs purchased
-Physical, spiritual, and emotional assistance to those with Covid, for any reason, at any time of day.
-Rental of a safe, outdoor space for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur Services
-Building a large, beautiful Sukkah at UMASS
-And much, much more!
Chabad is a home away from home for every Jew in Shrewsbury and UMASS. We are dedicated to serving our community - and now we’re asking for your support to help us build a bright Jewish future, together.
Running an operation like Chabad of Shrewsbury and UMASS requires a major investment of time, energy, and capital. While we work tirelessly to ensure that no Jew is left behind, the day-to-day expenses of operating a Chabad center can be daunting. Rather than charging membership fees or exorbitant event prices, which could alienate some people, we rely on the generosity of the community that we serve. To that end, two generous donors have come forward with a proposal to help Chabad thrive this year. They will match each dollar donated by you, our community. For these 5 days only, your dollar will have double the impact!
You can be a partner in everything we do to benefit the residents of Shrewsbury and UMASS by contributing to our campaign and by spreading the word. Maimonides says that every good deed, no matter how small, tips the scale of humanity toward goodness. Today you have the opportunity to see the impact of that deed multiplied many times over. Join us by making a donation today!
With much appreciation,
Rabbi Shmulik and Sarah Fogelman
